Misogyny: The Hatred of Women
Sexism: the belief that one sex or gender is better than another sex or gender
Patriarchy: A societal system where men are more highly valued and given more societal privileges than women
Male Chauvinism: The belief that women are inferior to men. It usually connotes an attitude that is dismissive of women’s ideas and value.
Male Privilege: The numerous ways in which men are given greater advantages, opportunities, freedoms, and choice in a patriarchal society
(For some reason I ended up explaining all this to my guy friends at a dinner party once, and realized how helpful it was to have good definitions)
